Abruzzo
Abruzzo - Top Layer

Red wines made with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes, complex and balanced, redolent of cherry, licorice and spices, are accompanied by Pecorino whites, citrusy, fresh, marked by superb sapidity.

The grapes for our Abruzzo wines grow in a unique, alluvial soil whose top layer of sandy-clay loam, at points, lets through the gravel below, uncommon conditions that give rise to wines of superb minerality. The presence of the nearby Gran Sasso and the winds of the Adriatic sea make for notable day-night temperature swings, a phenomenon that helps the grapes develop their aromatic qualities.

Tenuta Centovie

The Centovie estate embraces 35 hectares that have been farmed organically since they were first planted. The location on the slopes of a south-facing hillslope near Roseto degli Abruzzi is close to the picturesque village of Montipagano with views onto the Gran Sasso d’Italia massif.
The principal vine variety is Montepulciano, for which two tried and tested training systems have been adopted: low-cordon upwards-trained and spur pruned; and long-pruned overhead trellis.
