Umani Ronchi and the Conero “renaissance” according to Gambero Rosso
In November the section “Wine and Terroir” by Gambero Rosso dedicates an article to the Conero rebirth. A brand new life that corresponds with the attribution of Tre Bicchieri to our riserva Conero DOCG, Campo San Giorgio 2011.
For the occasion a special interview with Michele Bernetti. “But Campo San Giorgio is a project that started about fifteen years ago when we planted a new Montepulciano vineyard in the plot that gives its name to the wine. This is a vineyard with an high density of plants per hectare…” The results obtained by the vintage 2011 is the perfect synthesis between disposition and refinement, that creates new concepts of elegance and mineral notes achievable by Montepulciano from Conero area (Guida Vini d'Italia 2017).
But Umani Ronchi is not only Conero. The vineyards around Osimo have to be added to those of the Verdicchio area – between Cupramontana and Montecarotto - and of Abruzzo region. The interview proceeds talking about Vecchie Vigne 2009, white of the year in the Guide edition 2012, and then Pelago, winner in 1997 of the International Wine Challenge of London and Tre Bicchieri 2006. A wine that with vintage 2012 has arrived to its 18th harvest and that for the occasion, exhibits a brand new image, classic and elegant.
Last, Michele talks about future between the organic certifications and the commitment started to underline the world importance and the real value of the wines and their appellations.
